Bhutanese actor Sangay Tsheltrim, who has successfully transitioned from being an army officer to a rising star in the Bollywood entertainment industry, recently opened up about his experiences, aspirations, and love for challenges.

Sangay, who garnered acclaim for his role in Shah Rukh Khan's 'Jawan,' shared his elation at working with director Atlee and commended Atlee's unconventional approach to filmmaking during the shoots of 'Jawan' and the web series 'The Freelancer' in Morocco and Chennai, respectively. The actor, who hails from a military background, found the challenges posed by the roles immensely satisfying.

One of Sangay's cherished dreams, to portray an army officer on screen, came true in 'The Freelancer.' He also expressed his desire to feature in a commercial movie as a soldier, particularly one highlighting the sacrifices made by northeastern soldiers for their country.

The transition from serving as a soldier to representing Bhutan in the entertainment world was bittersweet for Sangay, who reflected on the emotional moment when he removed his uniform and badges. However, he affirmed his unwavering commitment to serving his nation in any capacity. Sangay is not only a talented actor but also a producer in Bhutan, where he aspires to create benchmark-setting commercial movies.

He noted the existing disparity between regional films, which find success in OTT platforms and film awards, and the need for more commercially oriented productions. Sangay concluded by emphasizing that filmmakers often have to choose between awards and financial success in the industry.
